storage units
-
Our storage units are heavy duty steel shipping containers made from maritime-grade corten steel also known as weathering steel due to its durable properties. All our units feature cargo doors that provide secure and wide access for loading and unloading — also offering robust locking mechanisms to ensure the contents of the unit are kept safe and secure from weather, theft and contamination.
-
All our storage units are a standard size of 20ft long, 8ft wide, and 8ft 6” high with 160 sq ft (14.9m²) of available floor space and around 1,170 cubic feet (33m³) of storage volume — providing plenty space ideal for your storage needs.
Internal dimensions:
Length: 5900mm | Width: 2300mm | Height: 2270mm -
Condensation inside storage containers occurs when warm air meets a cold surface, causing the moisture to condense into water droplets. This happens due to several key factors such as:
– Fluctuations in temperature
– Moisture in the air and/or in stored items
– Ground moisture
– Poor ventilation
– Lack of insulation or protective coatings
We’ve carried out a number of preventative measures to ensure our storage units stay as dry as possible. Open up the next frequently asked question to find out more… -
No need to worry! We’ve taken extra steps to ensure your belongings stay safe and dry.
Most of our storage units are treated with Grafotherm — a highly effective and specialised coating applied to the entire roof and upper inside perimeter of each unit. This coating works by absorbing moisture and releasing it gradually, keeping the interior as dry as possible and minimising the risk of condensation. To further protect against ground-level dampness, all our units are elevated on concrete blocks, so they’re not directly placed on the ground.
Despite these efforts to prevent condensation in our units, we strongly advise ensuring that anything you wish to store is completely dry. For example, items such as fridges, freezers, or similar appliances should be fully defrosted and dried out before being placed into storage. These measures will ensure you can feel confident that your belongings are kept safe and dry. -
Each of our storage units are clearly numbered in the top left corner. If you have difficulty initially locating your number unit, please feel free to ask a member of the team and they will happily guide you to your unit.
-
Yes — all our locations are relatively flat and easily accessible. Despite our storage units being raised off the ground to reduce the risk of ground-level moisture, disabled access would be possible via an access ramp into most of our storage units. If you need any additional support during your visit, just let us know! We're here to help.
-
Unfortunately we don’t provide power supply to our units.
-
No — our units are designed for storage use only. For safety and security reasons, sleeping or any kind of habitation in our storage units is strictly prohibited.

As much as we love our animals, purely for safety reasons, pets must stay secure in your vehicle at all times whenever you’re on-site. They must not be loose or go inside our storage units.
All our sites have vehicles moving in-and-out at all times making it unsafe for pets to roam freely. We want to ensure a safe environment for all our customers and their animals.
If you visit your unit on a warm/hot day, please make sure your pet has access to water and stays cool by running the air-con in your vehicle or keeping windows slightly open.
Yours and your pet’s safety are our top priority! -
Unfortunately, we don’t offer electric or water access at our locations. However, we’re happy to help guide you to nearby facilities that may have these services available. Let us know if you need any assistance!

business use

Absolutely! Our storage units are available for both personal/domestic and business use — serving a range of businesses across Norfolk with our storage solutions.

storage items
-
For safety reasons, we don’t allow the storage of gas cylinders, hazardous materials, or any other dangerous items such as chemicals or flammable substances. We also advise against storing washing machines, as they could cause dampness inside the unit. Please reach out to the Store Galore team if you're unsure about anything before storing it.
-
Absolutely! Providing your car or small caravan fits comfortably in your storage unit then you can store it! Our units could also fit a number of motorbikes or quadbikes if desired. Here are the internal dimensions of our units for reference:
Length: 5900mm | Width: 2300mm | Height: 2270mm
Please note: Just like any other items stored in our units, insurance for your vehicle, small caravan, motorbike(s), or quad bike(s) is entirely the sole responsibility of the renter/customer. It is up to you as the renter/customer whether you choose to take out storage insurance. Store Galore accepts no responsibility for any damage or loss of your items while they are in storage. -
Yes — however, it’s essential they are completely dry before placing them into storage to avoid any moisture buildup and dampness in the unit.
-
Yes — electrical equipment can be stored. Like any items your store, make sure it's properly packed and/or protected to avoid any damage during storage.
-
Yes you can — but we wouldn’t recommend it. Storing food and drink in a storage container is not recommended due to the potential for moisture build-up. Liquids and perishable items can release moisture into the air, creating a damp environment that may damage your belongings and promote mold or mildew growth. This moisture can also attract pests like rodents and insects, which can lead to further issues.
For the best results, it's advisable to only storage non-perishable items to keep your belongings safe and the storage unit environment healthy.
security
-
Yes — you will need to provide a padlock to secure your unit. However, we do sell high-quality, specifically designed container locks we’d recommend you use if you wish to purchase one from us. Contact the Store Galore team to enquire.
-
If you lose your keys or access to your unit, we can help — but please note there will be a £50 charge, as we’ll need to gain access to your unit and destroy the lock in the process.
-
It’s not compulsory to insure your items while they’re in storage, and not a requirement from us in order to rent a unit — but it is the sole responsibility and up to you as the renter/customer. However, we do recommend arranging insurance cover while your items are in storage in order to safeguard your belongings.
Please note: Store Galore accepts no responsibility for any damage or loss of your items while they are in storage. -
No — only you (and those you authorise) have access to your storage unit.
-
Yes you can if you wish — but this is entirely your decision! If you’d like someone else to access your storage unit such as a family member, friend, member of staff, or colleague — ensure it’s someone you trust and make sure they have the key or combination.
